We, the faculty and administration of Bishop Louis Reicher Catholic School, readily accept our ministry of Catholic education. We stress the importance of the parents as the primary educators and religious trainers of their children, and encourage an open and friendly communication policy among home, rectory, and school.

We feel the responsibility to integrate the Gospel message in all school subjects, when applicable, as well as in all aspects of school life, by upholding, teaching, and modeling Christian beliefs, morals, and ethics to our students.

The faculty and administration strive to create a family-like atmosphere that fosters the respect and dignity of each person. We emphasize the importance of developing healthy relationships with one another. We recognize the unique needs, abilities, and gifts of each student; and endeavor to accommodate these with our approach to instruction, and within the scope of our curriculum.

Students in grades 3rd through 8th are provided with a school-issued laptop to use during the school day.  Small student-teacher ratio allows teachers to meet individual needs and assist students in mastering material.

        • Promoting a positive attitude towards a healthy lifestyle (physical)

Our school offers a curriculum stressing a challenging standards-driven academic program that seeks to prepare graduates for the most rigorous courses available in the high schools of their choice; a strong religious education program that equips graduates with a moral compass to last through their adolescent years and beyond; a climate of mutual respect and responsibility that fosters in graduates the ability and the will to be the servant leaders of tomorrow, and the educational programs and activities which promote self-respect and positive lifelong attitudes toward personal health and fitness.  Holy Family holds firm to our four core values which define our identity and culture and are the fundamental beliefs that guide the daily life of the school.  The core values, which are reflected in the goals, are Catholic identity, faith formation, academic excellence and stewardship.

St. Austin Catholic School is a unique place. Nestled in downtown Austin between the Texas State Capitol and the University of Texas, we are privileged to experience a contemporary urban environment. Since 1917, St. Austin Catholic School has been privileged to serve the Catholic community of Austin and to contribute, in a significant manner, to the evangelizing mission of the Diocese of Austin and the Paulist Fathers. Embedded within our parish community and built on the generosity and the sacrifice of many generations of Catholic families, our Catholic school today is a vibrant expression of the interaction between faith and life.

Parents choose to send their children to St. Austin Catholic School for a variety of reasons:

        • We provide an exceptional alternative to public education for all students.

        • Our student body represents a diverse cultural and economic community, much like that of Austin.

        • Our faculty members are highly qualified and exemplify professional excellence in their roles and continued professional growth.

        • A caring, faith-based culture permeates all facets of our school community.

        • Our location is close to the workplace of one parent or within a short drive from home.

        • Extended campus opportunities are available downtown and at the University of Texas.

        • We believe an obvious strength is the positive atmosphere that exists through the individual attention the students receive in our school.

        • Our Pre-K through 5 campus consists of 147 students and our middle school houses 68 students.

        • We value the uniqueness of each child and the God given gifts that each child brings to our community.

        • The children are loved, respected, and taught to strive for their personal best.

        • We offer our students a rounded education that supports personal growth based on Christian values.

Our educational goals have been founded in the Catholic tradition to provide a nurturing, challenging, and diverse environment of learning. Every aspect of St. Austin Catholic School strives to provide a Christian atmosphere. Whether you are looking at the teachers who work here, the community we serve, or the traditions we follow, Christ leads our way. We believe that a solid academic experience based in faith gives children the tools they need to succeed in life beyond the walls of a school. We follow the Latin adage “Non Scholae, sed Vitae” (Not for school, but for life).

St. Austin Catholic School proudly holds dual accreditation for our academic programs and excellence. Our accreditations are held with the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department (TCCED) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). In 2005, we were the first private school in the Austin area to receive recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the US Department of Education. In 2008 we received the Best of Austin Award in the Religious Schools category from the U.S. Local Business Association.

We invite you to take the time to view the information on our website, www.staustinschool.org. It is a good reflection of the interest and dedication the staff at St. Austin Catholic School have towards the pupils and families of our school. You are also welcome to visit our campus and take a firsthand look at the experiences we offer our students.

We are committed to developing meaningful collaborative partnerships with our parish and parental communities and we look forward to journeying with you in the interest of the children whom we serve.

The Mission of St. Mary’s Catholic School is the commitment to academic excellence, and the spiritual development of our students toward a life of prayer, service and love.

St. Mary’s School was founded in 1897 under the name of St. Mary’s Academy by Father Heckmann, pastor of St. Mary’s Church.  Under his direction, with the active support of a dedicated group of parishioners, Divine Providence Sisters guided the pupils for several years.  The Divine Providence Sisters withdrew in 1912 and not until 1919 could teaching sisters be found to continue their good work.  Sisters of the Congregation of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament from Houston, Texas, began their mission at St. Mary’s School in 1919 and had a presence in the school until the retirement in May 1995 of long-time librarian, Sister James Philip Davison.  In 1974, Mrs. Loris Edwards became the first lay principal.

Today, the school is staffed by lay teachers who, together with the clergy, parents, and students, work for its uninterrupted growth and success to the greater honor and glory of God.

Since its founding in 1894, St. Joseph Catholic School has grown from a one-room school house to a comprehensive school system that includes three campuses:  The Early Learning Center (ELC) provides infant care through PreK3, the Elementary Campus educates students from grades PreK4 – 5th grade, and the Secondary Campus encompasses the Junior High and the High School.

Although the school has changed over the past 120+ years, one thing has remained the same—our commitment to providing quality, Catholic education—spirit, mind, and body.  We take very seriously our mission to form the whole person in the image and likeness of Christ.

St. Joseph uses a three-pronged approach to forming and educating students:  faith formation, rigorous curriculum, and extracurricular activities.

Our solid, faith-based education is open to children of all religions. Religious instruction is provided daily, and students from grades PreK-12 attend Mass twice weekly.  But sharing and exploring our Christian faith is not confined to the chapel or the theology classroom. Seeing God’s hand in all areas of study, be it science, social studies, math, or music, is part of the daily experience for teachers and students at St. Joseph School.

The education at St. Joseph Catholic School provides a solid foundation and springboard to the future.  At the secondary level, students are required to take at least two years of Latin, and they have the opportunity to earn college credit through the Dual Credit program with Blinn College.  St. Joseph High School graduates have been accepted to some of the most prestigious and highly ranked colleges and universities in the country.

In addition, students and their parents are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities that promote and encourage the values of respect, responsibility, and service. The student service program, a requirement for graduation, further instills the value of student leadership and service.

When you choose St. Joseph Catholic School for your family, you will discover a lively, family-oriented environment where education, faith formation, and the individual needs of each child is valued.  Give us a call to arrange your personal tour.

In 1972, the only Catholic high school in Austin closed. Ten years later, Austin was the only major US city without a Catholic high school. A small group of parents and Catholic lay leaders headed by Dr. Leonard Dolce commissioned a study that revealed the Austin community would enthusiastically support such a school. In 1984, St. Michael’s Catholic Academy opened its doors. It was one of the first Catholic schools in the nation established entirely by laypeople. The land and the school are not owned by the diocese – a striking departure from typical Catholic schools. Although the Diocese of Austin has been extremely supportive, laypeople have assumed full responsibility for the school. Since the school’s beginning, trustees, parents, faculty, and staff have labored to realize its founding vision: to be a first-class Catholic secondary school that nourishes the minds, bodies, and spirits of its students, preparing them for a challenging college education and a Christian adult life. St. Michael’s Catholic Academy is a college-preparatory school serving a diverse student body. Combining academic excellence with faith formation and co-curricular learning opportunities, St. Michael’s prepares the whole student for leadership, service, and decision-making consistent with Catholic values.
