Dr. Ned Vanders, Superintendent of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Austin, is responsible for the operations of all elementary, middle and high schools in the Diocese of Austin. As the superintendent, he acts as a representative on behalf of the Bishop on all school-related issues. Dr. Vanders’ duties range from meetings with administrators and teachers, overseeing development and implementation of policy, curriculum and school improvements, to visiting children at schools in the classroom.

Dr. Vanders brings 42 years of experience in Catholic education to the Catholic schools office at the Diocese of Austin. Prior to the Diocese of Austin, Dr. Vanders was a school principal in the Diocese of Dallas. With a rich background in education, he has previously served as a high school Theology and English teacher, a university campus minister, a dean of students, and principal of elementary, middle and high schools.

Currently, Dr. Vanders is an ex officio member of the 23 Catholic School Boards in the Diocese and is a commissioner for the Texas Catholic Conference Accreditation Commission (TCCAC), which accredits all Texas Catholic schools.  Dr. Vanders holds a B.A. in English from Western Michigan University, an M.A. in Theology from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota, a M.Ed. in School Administration from the University of North Texas and an Ed.D. in Catholic School Administration from the Institute for Catholic Educational Leadership at the Jesuit University of San Francisco.

Mrs. Misty Poe, Assistant Superintendent of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Austin, is responsible for Texas Catholic Conference Education Department (TCCED) School Accreditation, CSCOPE curriculum management program, Federal Funding for Title I and Title II, and certification of Religion Teachers.

Mrs. Poe has been involved with Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Austin for over 17 years. She has served as a teacher, Dean of Students, Assistant Principal and Principal of an  elementary and middle school.  She is a member of the Diocesan School Advisory Board, Diocesan Science Fair Committee and numerous ad hoc committees supporting Catholic education.

Mrs. Poe holds a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Southwest Texas State University and a M.Ed. in School Administration from Sam Houston State University.

Andrea joined the Office of Catholic Schools in 2016.  She focuses on supporting all 22 Catholic schools in the Diocese of Austin in their efforts to plan and initiate all areas of admissions and advancement.  In service to the schools, she coordinates a Best Practices Development Summit in the Fall and a wonderful Celebrating Catholic Schools Gala in the winter.  Through engagement and strong relationships, Andrea supports the diocese and Catholic Schools office with an annual appeal, volunteer management, and direct marketing efforts.

Andrea has spent the last 16 years supporting the advancement needs of Catholic organizations, schools, and parishes.  She has a BA in Organizational Communications and a minor in Journalism from CSU, Stanislaus, CA.  Relocated from the Bay Area to Austin in 2015, Andrea spends most of her free time seeking new adventures in food, geography, and art with her husband, Vito, and seven children.
